British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
