Followers Urge Custody of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who breached a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Safety
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented a further response on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely friendship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, earning several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
