According to law enforcement, Jihad Al-Shamie had been taken into custody under investigation of rape and had been released on police bail at the time he carried out a deadly knife and car attack on a Greater Manchester synagogue.

Adrian Daulby and another individual lost their lives during the assault on Thursday, and three people remain receiving medical care.

Police believe that the attacker may have been influenced by "extreme Islamist ideology" and stated that additional suspects, aged from late teens to mid-forties, were detained on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist activities.

Tributes Offered to Victims

On Friday, families of the victims expressed their grief to their loved ones, hailing them as heroes who died protecting people.

The 53-year-old victim and Mr Cravitz, 66 were killed during the incident after the attacker used a vehicle at members of the public before stabbing people on Thursday morning.

Greater Manchester Police said Mr Daulby sustained injuries by police gunfire as they shot the suspect shortly after the incident was reported.

Family Statements

Mr Daulby's family said he "lost his life in the act of courage to protect people" and his last actions "demonstrated extreme bravery and he will always be honored".

Mr Cravitz, from Crumpsall, was working as a security guard at the religious building.

Honoring his memory, his loved ones expressed: "He had been so kind, considerate and always wanted to converse and build relationships.

"He remained devoted to his spouse, family and enjoyed his food. He will be deeply mourned by his wife, loved ones, companions and community."

Investigation Initiated into Officer Response

The Independent Office for Police Conduct announced it would investigate the use of lethal force by firearms officers dealing with the incident, which occurred on the Jewish Day of Atonement, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish calendar.

Officers with firearms accidentally fatally shot Mr Daulby, while worshipper another individual was also injured by gunfire by officers leaving him serious injuries.

This inquiry will focus on the "circumstances surrounding the deadly officer-involved shooting of the attacker", as well as "if police may have caused or contributed to the demise of the man later found to have suffered the fatal gunshot wound".

Attack Details Revealed

Counter terror police also released more information about what happened in the period leading to the assault at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue.

In a statement released to the media the next day, a senior officer said: "According to reports from eyewitness statements that a man was seen acting suspiciously near the synagogue before he was confronted by protection staff and walked away".

At the time, the incident had not been communicated to police. A short time after, "the individual came back in a car and initiated his violent assault," the official continued.

Investigators are seeking legal orders to further detain all six people now in custody, he also said. Earlier, Greater Manchester Police said three other suspects - two men in their thirties and a female in her sixties - had been arrested on suspicion of involvement and planning of acts of terrorism.

Eyewitness Accounts

The religious leader was leading prayers when his place of worship was attacked and described witnessing "malice and hostility" as a man began "body-charging the doors, hurling large containers, attempting everything possible to gain entry".

Praising the quick-thinking of those at the synagogue, he told media outlets: "I witnessed genuine heroism, it must be noted, and individuals who rushed to assist others rather than fleeing. It was astonishing."

Alan Levy, the temple's chairman of trustees told news organizations, he heard the attacker yelling "this is what they get for harming innocent youth", prior to "banging his knife into the glass, trying to get through".
