The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a fresh backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their steady trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common bold, visionary sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
