Overnight, the gusts will reach their maximum across Scotland as heavy rain sweeps southeast across England and Wales, before slowly subsiding later on Saturday.

Despite Saturday remaining quite gusty, there will be a mixture of sunny spells and showers, most of them coming in across the UK's north and west.

Weekend Outlook

On Sunday, Storm Amy will have moved further out into the North Sea so it will be drier with lighter winds for the second half of the weekend.

The subsequent storm designation will be the name Bram. A updated naming list is released annually by the Met Office before the storm season begins in September with both male and female names chosen by the public.

Weather systems may receive names from either the Met Office, Met Éireann or the Dutch weather service KNMI when consequences are expected as "medium to high."
